AMBLYDROMALUS LIMONICUS
Amblydromalus limonicus – Instructions and recommendations for using the predatory mite against thrips and whitefly
Application mode:
Amblydromalus limonicus is released directly onto the crop, distributing the sachets or carrier material (usually bran) evenly. It can be applied preventively, before a mass outbreak of pests, or curatively, when the first signs of infestation are detected. This predator establishes itself in the middle and upper parts of the plants, where it actively seeks its prey.
Releases should be adapted to the crop conditions and the level of infestation, and repeated periodically to maintain a stable population. Amblydromalus limonicus acts as a biocontrol agent, naturally reducing thrips and whitefly populations without leaving residues and without affecting beneficial insects.
Application tips:
• Apply preferably in the early stages of crop development or upon detection of the first pests.
• Avoid broad-spectrum insecticide treatments before and after release, as these can affect the mite's survival.
• Maintain average relative humidity (above 60%) and moderate temperatures (20–30 °C) to promote its activity.
• Compatible with other natural enemies such as Orius spp., Encarsia formosa, and Eretmocerus eremicus.
• Repeat releases if environmental conditions are not optimal or if a resurgence of the pest is observed.
• Store the sachets or containers in a cool, shaded place before application; do not freeze.
Toxicity:
• For humans: Non-toxic. No adverse effects have been reported. Wearing gloves during handling is recommended for hygiene reasons.
• For bees: Safe. It poses no risk to pollinators or other beneficial insects.
• For beneficial insects: Compatible with most predators and parasitoids used in biological control.
• For the environment: A naturally occurring organism with no negative impact on soil, water, or biodiversity. It leaves no residue and contributes to the ecological balance of the agroecosystem.
Read the manufacturer's instructions carefully, respect the doses and times and follow the recommendations for use.
