BACILLUS THURINGIENSIS ISRAELENSIS
Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis – Instructions for use and recommendations for the biological control of caterpillars and flies
Application mode:
It is applied directly to areas where larvae develop, such as ponds, canals, irrigation ditches, drainage ditches, areas of standing water, or damp substrates where insects lay their eggs. Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis acts exclusively through ingestion, so it must come into contact with the larvae while they are feeding.
Treatment should be carried out when larval activity is detected, preferably in the early stages, as they are more susceptible. It can be applied by spraying, misting, or incorporation into irrigation water, depending on the product formulation. It is recommended to repeat the treatment depending on environmental conditions and the product's persistence.
Application tips:
• Apply preventively or at the first sign of larval emergence.
• Ensure even distribution of the product across the entire water surface or treated area.
• Repeat application in case of heavy rain or water renewal.
• Do not mix with alkaline products or disinfectants that may affect spore viability.
• Compatible with most biological control methods and integrated pest management programs.
• Store the product in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight.
Toxicity:
• For humans: Very low toxicity. No adverse effects are known. It is recommended to use gloves and basic protective equipment during handling.
• For bees: Non-toxic. Safe for pollinators, even in flowering crops.
• For beneficial insects: Harmless to predators, parasitoids, and other beneficial fauna.
• For the environment: Natural, biodegradable, and highly selective product. Does not affect fish, amphibians, or other non-target aquatic organisms. Contributes to the sustainable control of Diptera without disrupting the ecological balance of aquatic ecosystems.
Read the manufacturer's instructions carefully, respect the doses and times and follow the recommendations for use.
