Why do cracks or splits appear on plants?

Cracks or splits may appear on trunks, branches, stems, or fruits as a result of diseases or tissue damage. In many cases, they are caused by bacterial infections or cankers that weaken the bark and cause it to split. Observing whether the cracks are accompanied by sap exudation, sunken areas, or necrotic tissue will help correctly identify the cause and apply the most appropriate control measures.
