WOOD ASH
CENIZA DE MADERA
How does it work?
Wood ash is a natural residue left after burning untreated wood. It is rich in mineral salts such as potassium and calcium, which makes it an effective repellent against certain insects and mollusks. Its action is based on creating a physical barrier that dehydrates snails and slugs, and alters the paths of ants, making it difficult for them to pass and return to the anthill.
How is it prepared?
To prepare a repellent with wood ash, you simply collect the fine, dry ash resulting from burning untreated wood (without varnishes or paints).
Recipe:
- 1 cup of fine wood ash
- 1 liter of water (optional, if you want to apply it as a liquid solution)
Dry, it is applied directly. If you want to make it in liquid form, mix the ash with water, let it rest and filter before applying with a sprayer.
How to apply it?
- Apply the ash dry, forming a ring around the plants.
- Repeat the application after each rain or heavy watering.
- Do not apply in excess to avoid imbalances in the pH of the soil.
- In the case of liquid use, spray at the base of the plant, avoiding the leaves.
- It is recommended to apply every 4-5 days if there is a high presence of pests.
