DESCRIPTION
WHO CAUSES IT?
Tetranychus urticae, known as the red spider, is a small mite that belongs to the family Tetranychidae. It is characterized by its tiny size, its reddish color and its ability to weave fine cobwebs on plants. These mites are sap suckers, causing leaf damage and reducing the overall health of the plant. Additionally, they reproduce quickly in hot, dry conditions, making them difficult pests to control.
SYMPTOMS
In citrus, spider mites can cause visible leaf damage such as mottling, discoloration, and necrosis. They can also weaken the plant, reduce its growth and reduce the quality and quantity of the fruits.
