DESCRIPTION
WHO CAUSES IT?
Powdery mildew, caused by the pathogen Erysiphe diffusa, is a fungal disease that affects a variety of plants, including soybeans. This fungus is characterized by its ability to colonize leaves and other plant tissues, forming a white layer of mycelium that can reduce the plant's ability to carry out photosynthesis and affect its development.
SYMPTOMS
In soybeans, powdery mildew produces symptoms that include the appearance of white or grayish Taches on the leaves, stems and pods. These Taches are covered by a powdery layer of fungal spores and can eventually spread, covering large areas of the plant. Additionally, powdery mildew can weaken the plant and predispose it to other diseases or stress conditions.
