POTASSIUM SOAP SOLUTION + NEEM OIL + DIATOMACEOUS EARTH
SOLUCIÓN DE JABÓN POTÁSICO + ACEITE DE NEEM + TIERRA DE DIATOMEAS
How does it work?
The combination of potassium soap, Neem oil and diatomaceous earth is a very effective ecological solution to combat mealybugs and scales. Potassium soap acts by weakening the protective waxy layer of these insects, making them easier to eliminate. Neem oil, with its active ingredient azadirachtin, interferes with the development and feeding of pests, acting as a systemic insecticide and repellent. For its part, diatomaceous earth physically damages the exoskeleton of insects, causing them to dehydrate. This combination attacks from several fronts and is especially useful in resistant infestations.
How is it prepared?
To prepare this solution, you need natural products that are easy to find in organic or agricultural stores.
Recipe for 1 liter of solution:
- 10 ml of potassium soap
- 5 ml of Neem oil
- 1 level tablespoon of diatomaceous earth (preferably food grade)
- 1 liter of water (preferably without chlorine)
Preparation:
1. Dissolve the potassium soap in the warm water and mix well.
2. Add the Neem oil and shake vigorously.
3. Add the diatomaceous earth little by little while continuing to mix.
4. Pour the mixture into a sprayer, always shaking before each application to keep the mixture homogeneous.
Use on the same day or keep for a maximum of 24 hours.
How to apply it?
The solution is applied by direct spraying on the affected plants, especially where the presence of mealybugs or scales is observed.
Application mode:
- Spray the plant completely, insisting on stems, branches and the underside of the leaves.
- Apply at dusk to avoid sunburn and promote absorption.
Frequency:
- In case of infestation: apply every 3 days for 2 weeks.
- As prevention: apply every 10 to 15 days.
Tips:
- Do not apply in rain or during hours of intense heat.
- Shake the sprayer before and during use to keep the diatomaceous earth suspended.
- Repeat the treatment after rain or intense irrigation.
- Do not apply on open flowers to protect pollinators.
