ANT TRAP
TRAMPA PARA HORMIGAS

How does it work?
Ant trapping involves applying a sticky Vaseline barrier to the base or stem of affected plants. This technique does not seek to directly eliminate the ants, but rather to prevent their access to aphids, with whom they usually associate to feed on their honeydew. By preventing ants from climbing the plants, you disrupt this relationship and allow the aphids' natural enemies, such as ladybugs and parasitic wasps, to effectively control the pest.
How is it prepared?
To apply this natural trap you only need:
- Vaseline (sufficient amount depending on the number of plants)
Recipe:
1. Gently clean the base or stem of the plant to remove dust or debris.
2. Apply an even layer of Vaseline around the stem, forming a sticky ring.
3. Make sure that the layer is continuous and without spaces to prevent the passage of ants.
How to apply it?
- Apply Vaseline directly to the stem or on a tape or plastic band that surrounds the base if you wish to protect the plant.
- Check the barrier every 3 to 5 days and renew if it becomes dry, dirty or loses effectiveness.
- Use this technique especially when ants are detected protecting aphids.
- Do not apply excessively to avoid damaging very tender tissues.
- Complement with other natural control practices for aphids.
