TRAPS WITH VINEGAR AND SOAP
TRAMPAS CON VINAGRE Y JABÓN

How does it work?
Soap and vinegar traps are a very effective home method for attracting and eliminating fruit flies. Vinegar, especially apple cider vinegar, acts as an attractant due to its fermented smell. The flies enter the container and drown in the mixture. Adding soap breaks the surface tension, making it easier for them to sink. These traps are useful both at home and in gardens and orchards, and also serve as a pest monitoring tool.
How is it prepared?
To prepare the trap you need:
- 1 disposable cup with lid (or cover with plastic)
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of liquid soap
- (Optional) 1 strip of yellow plastic inside the glass
Make several small holes in the lid or side of the glass for flies to enter. Mix the vinegar and soap in the glass, add the yellow strip if desired, and close.
How to place it?
- Hang or place the glasses near fruits, compost or affected areas.
- Use several traps if there is a lot of infestation.
- Check and replace the mixture every 2-3 days.
- Keep active while flies are present.
- Avoid placing them directly in the sun to prolong their effectiveness.
