PROPAMOCARB

Fungicide

GROUP

FRAC 28

GROUP NAME

Carbamates

MoA (Mode of Action)

Inhibition of lipid biosynthesis and alteration of cell membranes

RESISTANCE LEVEL

Half

CLASSIFICATION

Systémique

TYPE

Specific site

ACTIVITY

Preventive and partially curative

Description

A systemic fungicide belonging to the carbamate group, primarily used to control Oomycetes such as Pythium spp. and Phytophthora spp. It acts by interfering with the biosynthesis of lipids and cell membranes of the fungus, disrupting mycelial growth, spore formation, and cell development. It exhibits high upward systemic mobility within the plant, providing preventative protection and some early curative action on roots and vegetative tissues.

Application Conditions

It is applied by foliar spraying, irrigation, or soil drench as a preventative measure or at the onset of infection. It is important to ensure even distribution throughout the root zone and aboveground parts of the plant, depending on the target pathogen. It should be alternated with fungicides that have a different mode of action within resistance management programs.

Compatibility in Treatment Programs

Compatible with anti-Oomycete fungicides and IPM programs

Cross-Resistance

Cross-resistance may exist within FRAC 28

Maximum Number of Applications

Maximum 1-2 consecutive applications according to FRAC strategy

Recommendations for Use

Alternation or mixing with multi-site fungicides is recommended.

Compatibility with Beneficial Organisms

Generally yes, when used according to authorized recommendations

Technical Notes

Propamocarb is notable for its high systemic mobility and efficacy against root and foliar diseases caused by Oomycetes. Its continued use may promote the development of resistance, so it should be alternated with other modes of action.
