PHEROMONE TRAP

TRAMPA CON FEROMONAS

How does it work?

The pheromone trap is a monitoring and control tool used to attract and capture pest insects such as fruit flies, Tuta ABSOLUTA, moths, leafminers, borers, borers, caterpillars, weevils and weevils. It works by releasing a specific pheromone that imitates the smell that females emit to attract males. Upon entering the trap guided by the smell, the insects fall to the bottom of the container, where there is water with neutral soap that prevents their escape. This helps reduce the population and detect the presence of the pest in time.

How is it prepared?

To prepare the trap you need:

- 1 plastic container (can be a square barrel)
- Scissors or cutter
- Water (1 liter)
- Neutral soap without aroma (1 tablespoon)
- 1 capsule of specific pheromones according to the target pest

Recipe:
1. Cut three of the four sides of the container, leaving the corners so that it retains its shape, the base to place soapy water and the upper part to protect it from rain and to be able to hang the capsules with the pheromones.
2. Fill the bottom of the container with 1 liter of water and add 1 tablespoon of neutral, unscented soap.
3. Place the pheromone capsule suspended inside the container, without it touching the water.
4. Partially close the lid if necessary to prevent too much rain from entering.

How to place it?

- Place the trap at the height of the crop or in areas where the pest has been detected.
- Use at least one trap every 10 to 20 square meters, depending on the type of crop and level of infestation.
- Check the trap every 5 to 7 days to eliminate trapped insects and replace soap and water if necessary.
- Replace the pheromone capsule according to the duration indicated by the manufacturer (generally every 4 to 6 weeks).
- Avoid placing the trap in direct sunlight to maintain the effectiveness of the attractant.
