CHROMATIC OR ADHESIVE TRAPS

TRAMPAS CROMÁTICAS O ADHESIVAS

How does it work?

Chromatic or sticky traps are devices designed to attract and capture pest insects through the use of bright colors and sticky surfaces. They work by visually attracting insects, such as the green mosquito, thrips, whitefly and fungus gnats, which when landing on the trap become attached and cannot escape. These traps allow you to monitor the presence of pests and reduce their population without the use of chemicals.

How is it prepared?

To prepare a homemade sticky trap you need:
- Piece of yellow or blue plastic (depending on the target pest). You can do it using a plastic plate or cutting it out of a bottle.
- Vegetable oil or Vaseline
- Wooden or wire sticks for support

Recipe:
1. Cut into rectangles of about 15x20 cm.
2. Apply an even layer of vegetable oil or Vaseline on one or both sides.
3. Fix the cardboard to the support (stick or wire) or you can hang it from a thread.
4. Place the trap in the affected area.

How to place it?

- Place the traps at the height of the crop, preferably between the plants.
- Use a trap every 1 to 2 square meters in heavily infested areas.
- Check the traps every 3 to 5 days.
- Clean the adhesive surface when it is full of insects or dirty and reapply vegetable oil or Vaseline.
- Avoid direct contact with water or intense sun to prolong its effectiveness.
