ABONOS BORATADOS / FERTILIZANTES BORATADOS
Borate fertilizers – Instructions and tips for treating boron deficiency in plants
Application method:
Application tips:
• Always apply at low doses, as boron is a micronutrient and excess can cause toxicity.
• Avoid applying during periods of strong sunlight or very high temperatures.
• Do not mix with highly alkaline products, as this can reduce boron availability.
• For foliar applications, completely dissolve the fertilizer in clean water to avoid staining or burning.
• Repeat application every 20–30 days if deficiency symptoms persist.
• Perform a preliminary test on a small part of the plant, especially in sensitive species.
• In sandy soils or soils with a high pH, plants often require more regular applications of boron.
Toxicity:
• For humans: Low toxicity in agricultural use, but may cause eye or skin irritation. Wear gloves and avoid direct contact with dust or concentrated solution.
• For bees: No significant toxicity. Can be applied safely outside of flowering periods.
• For beneficial insects: Safe for beneficial insects, as it has no insecticidal action.
• For the environment: Relatively safe, although excess should be avoided, as high levels of boron can salinize or damage sensitive soils. Do not pour into waterways.
