Water with vinegar or lemon: a home remedy to correct iron deficiency in plants
How does it work?
How is it prepared?
The key is to use a very diluted solution to avoid damaging the roots.
Recommended recipe:
• 1 liter of water
• 1 teaspoon of white vinegar or 3–4 drops of lemon juice
Steps:
1. Mix the water and vinegar or lemon juice well.
2. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
3. Use immediately after preparation.
Note: Do not use colored or flavored vinegars. White vinegar is the most suitable.
How to apply it?
• Water the plant once every 10–15 days with this highly diluted mixture.
• Avoid overwatering, as too much acidity can damage the soil and roots.
• Water slowly so that the acidified water reaches the root zone.
• Use only in soils or pots with a tendency towards alkalinity (high pH).
• Do not apply to acid-loving plants that are already within their optimal pH range.
• If chlorosis is severe, combine with a direct application of iron chelates.
