HETERORHABDITIS BACTERIOPHORA
Heterorhabditis bacteriophora – Instructions for use and recommendations for the entomopathogenic nematode for the control of soil insects
Application mode:
Apply preferably to the soil or substrate, using irrigation systems, drenching, or spraying directed at the base of the crop, always ensuring good moisture. After release, the nematodes actively seek out the larvae of the target pests present in the soil or in hidden areas. Once inside the host, they release their symbiotic bacteria, causing the insect's death and allowing the development of new generations of nematodes that continue to control the pest population. It is important to apply when the larvae are accessible and present in the soil or moist areas.
Application tips:
• Apply preferably during periods of low sunlight or on cloudy days, as nematodes are sensitive to ultraviolet light.
• Keep the soil or substrate moist before, during, and after application to promote nematode movement and survival.
• Avoid mixing with incompatible chemicals, especially contact insecticides or formulations that may affect nematode viability.
• Shake or mix the spray solution well to keep the nematodes in uniform suspension.
• Use chlorine-free water or allow it to stand beforehand to avoid harming the organisms.
• Repeat applications if environmental conditions have not been optimal or if pest pressure persists in the crop.
Toxicity:
• For humans: Very low toxicity. No adverse effects are known. The use of gloves and basic protective gear is recommended during handling and application.
• For bees: Non-toxic. Safe for pollinators and other beneficial insects that do not live in the soil during susceptible life stages.
• For beneficial insects: Harmless to most aerial natural enemies. It acts only on susceptible insects in the soil or protected areas.
• For the environment: A natural and biodegradable organism. It leaves no toxic residues, does not contaminate soil or water, and contributes to the biological balance of the agroecosystem.
Read the manufacturer's instructions carefully, respect the doses and times and follow the recommendations for use.
