DESCRIPTION
WHO CAUSES IT?
Citrus mosaic virus (CMV) is a phytopathogenic virus that affects citrus trees, causing the disease known as citrus mosaic virus. CMV spreads primarily through insect vectors such as aphids and by grafting, infecting new plants by feeding or by spreading through plant parts. The virus can persist in infected plants and spread to other plants in the vicinity.
SYMPTOMS
Citrus mosaic virus produces characteristic symptoms on citrus, including mosaic patterns on leaves. Symptoms can vary in severity depending on the citrus variety and growing conditions.
• Appearance of mosaic or mottled patterns on leaves.
• Deformation of leaves, stems and fruits.
• General weakening of the plant.
• Reduction in the quality and quantity of the harvest.
