DESCRIPTION
WHO CAUSES IT?
The ribbed mealybug, scientifically known as Icerya purchasi, is an insect of the Margarodidae family that feeds on the sap of various ornamental and fruit plants. This insect is characterized by its body covered in a waxy secretion that provides protection and a ribbed appearance, hence its name.
SYMPTOMS
In rose bushes, the channeled mealybug can cause a range of significant damage. Symptoms of its presence include the presence of white or grayish waxy secretions on the leaves, stems and buds of the plant. Additionally, the plant may show signs of weakening, yellowing leaves, and in severe cases, the death of branches or even the entire plant.
