PURÍN DE ORTIGA
Nettle manure: homemade fertilizer and repellent for plants
How does it work?
How is it prepared?
This preparation requires time to ferment and develop all its properties.
Recipe:
• 1 kg of fresh nettle (or 150–200 g if dried)
• 10 liters of water
• A large container (preferably plastic or wooden)
Steps:
1. Chop the nettle and place it in the container.
2. Add the 10 liters of water.
3. Mix well and let it ferment for 10 to 15 days.
4. Stir the mixture daily to oxygenate it.
5. When it stops bubbling, strain the liquid.
6. Store in dark bottles or sealed containers.
How to apply it?
• Always dilute before use: 1:10 for irrigation (1 part liquid manure to 10 parts water) and 1:20 for foliar application.
• Apply to leaves, stems, and the soil around the plant.
• Use every 7–10 days during growing seasons or when pests are present.
• Avoid applying during periods of direct sunlight to prevent burning the foliage.
• Do not use on plants experiencing water stress or extreme temperatures.
