TRAMPA DE CINTA
Sticky tape trap: homemade solution for crawling insects and scale insects

How does it work?
The tape trap is a simple and effective solution for trapping insects such as scale and mealybugs during their mobile phases. It consists of placing adhesive tape around the stem or branches of the affected plants. This barrier traps insects when they try to move, preventing them from colonizing new parts of the plant. Its function is physical, non-toxic, and helps reduce the pest population without affecting other organisms.
How is it prepared?
To prepare the trap you need:
- Adhesive tape (packaging tape or double-sided tape)
- Optional: Vaseline or vegetable oil
Recipe:
1. Cut strips of adhesive tape of approximately 10 to 15 cm.
2. Wrap the tape around the affected stem or branches, with the sticky side facing out.
3. If not very adhesive tape is used, it can be reinforced by applying a thin layer of Vaseline or oil on the surface.
How to place it?
- Place the tapes on the main stems or branches where the pests move.
- Check the traps every 3 to 5 days to verify their effectiveness.
- Replace the tape when it is covered in insects or has lost its stickiness.
- Do not cover very tender areas of the plant to avoid damage.
- Complement with other measures if the infestation is high.
