WHO CAUSES IT?
Zucchini Yellow Mosaic Virus (ZYMV) is a virus that affects squash plants, causing severe damage to crops. It belongs to the genus Potyvirus and has a genome composed of single-stranded RNA. Its life cycle begins when a vector, such as aphids, acquires the virus while feeding on an infected plant and then transmits it to a healthy plant during feeding. Once inside the plant, the virus replicates in plant cells and moves through the phloem, negatively affecting plant growth and health.
