DESCRIPTION
WHO CAUSES IT?
Pseudoperonospora cubensis is an oomycete, a type of fungal-like organism, that causes the disease known as downy mildew in cucurbits. This pathogen is especially harmful to crops such as cucumber, pumpkin, zucchini and melon. It is characterized by its rapid dispersion in conditions of high humidity and moderate temperatures.
SYMPTOMS
The disease caused by Pseudoperonospora cubensis in cucurbits manifests mainly as oily yellow Taches on the leaves, which eventually become covered with a dark gray or white mold. As the disease progresses, these Taches can expand and fuse, causing significant deterioration in the plant's health and reducing its ability to photosynthesize.
