Virus

Risk to the plant:

DESCRIPTION
WHO CAUSES IT?
Potato virus Y (PVY) is one of the most important and destructive viruses affecting potato crops. Its life cycle involves infection of the host plant, followed by reproduction and dissemination of the virus. It is mainly transmitted by aphids (aphids), which feed on plant sap and transport the virus from one plant to another. The virus can also be transmitted through infected seeds or tubers, as well as through contact with contaminated tools or materials.
SYMPTOMS
Potato virus Y produces a variety of symptoms on the plant, which can vary in severity depending on the strain of the virus and the susceptibility of the potato variety. Symptoms may include leaf mosaic, necrosis, leaf curling, and stunted growth. In tubers, the virus can cause deformities and Taches, affecting the quality of the harvest.
• Mosaic on potato leaves.
• Necrosis and Taches on the leaves.
• Leaf curling and stunted growth.
• Deformities and Taches on the tubercles.
