Fungicide

GROUP

FRAC 6

GROUP NAME

Dithiolanes

MoA (Mode of Action)

Alteration of lipid biosynthesis processes and fungal mycelium development

RESISTANCE LEVEL

Half

CLASSIFICATION

Systémique

TYPE

Specific site

ACTIVITY

Preventive and partially curative

Description

A systemic fungicide belonging to the dithiolane group, primarily used to control diseases caused by Pyricularia spp. and certain phytopathogenic fungi in rice and other crops. It acts by interfering with metabolic processes related to lipid biosynthesis and the development of fungal cell membranes, altering mycelium formation and growth. It exhibits preventative and early curative activity, with absorption by plant tissues and moderate systemic mobility that protects both the treated area and some of the new growth. In addition to its fungicidal action, it has been observed to positively influence certain physiological processes in the crop, promoting vegetative vigor under specific application conditions.

Application Conditions

It is applied by foliar spraying or water application in flooded crops such as rice, preferably preventively or at the beginning of infection. It is important to maintain a homogeneous distribution of the product to ensure proper absorption and efficacy. It should be alternated with fungicides of a different mode of action within resistance management programs.

Compatibility in Treatment Programs

Compatible with protectant fungicides and integrated disease management programs

Cross-Resistance

Partial cross-resistance may exist with other FRAC 6 fungicides

Maximum Number of Applications

Maximum 1-2 consecutive applications depending on the anti-resistance strategy

Recommendations for Use

Alternation or mixing with multi-site fungicides is recommended to reduce selection pressure.

Compatibility with Beneficial Organisms

Generally yes, when used following authorized recommendations

Technical Notes

Isoprothiolan has been widely used in rice for the control of Pyricularia oryzae due to its combination of systemic activity, persistence, and preventative action. Its repeated use can promote the selection of resistant strains, so it should be integrated into FRAC strategies and integrated disease management programs.
