#F161#
Fungicida
Description
A specialized systemic fungicide primarily used to control rice blast (Pyricularia oryzae) in rice. It belongs to the group of melanin biosynthesis inhibitors and acts by blocking key stages in melanin formation in the fungus's appressoria, structures necessary for penetrating plant tissues. By preventing proper melanization, the fungus loses its ability to generate the mechanical pressure needed to penetrate the plant cuticle, halting infection at very early stages. It exhibits high preventative activity and some initial curative action, as well as good persistence and systemic movement within the plant. Its specific efficacy against rice blast has historically made it a technical benchmark for managing rice blast.
Application Conditions
It should be applied preventively or at the first sign of infection by uniform foliar spraying. It is recommended to alternate with fungicides that have a different mode of action and to limit consecutive applications to minimize the risk of resistance.
Compatibility in Treatment Programs
Compatible with multi-site fungicides and other rice fungicides within IPM programs
Cross-Resistance
Yes, possible cross-resistance with other related melanin inhibitors
Maximum Number of Applications
Maximum 1-2 consecutive applications depending on the anti-resistance strategy
Recommendations for Use
It is recommended to alternate or combine with fungicides of different FRAC values to reduce selection pressure.
Compatibility with Beneficial Organisms
Generally yes, when used according to labeling
Technical Notes
Tricyclazole is notable for its high specific efficacy against Pyricularia spp. thanks to its action on the fungal penetration phase. Due to its specific mode of action and historical intensive use in rice, it should be integrated into resistance management programs with appropriate rotation of modes of action.
