WHO CAUSES IT?
Bacterial spot, caused by the bacteria Xanthomonas spp., is a disease that affects various cultivated plants, including pepper. This disease can cause significant damage to crops, reducing both the quality and quantity of production.
SYMPTOMS
In pepper, bacterial spot produces a series of characteristic symptoms. These include dark brown necrotic lesions on leaves, stems and fruits. These lesions usually have a moist and greasy appearance, and may have a yellowish halo around them. Additionally, in conditions of high humidity, bacterial exudations can be observed in the lesions.

TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY
20°C - 30°C
80% - 95%
TRANSMISSION ROUTES
Direct contact with infected plants, spread by contaminated irrigation water, and spread by wind during periods of high humidity.

Recommendations
To prevent and control bacterial spot in pepper crops, it is important to implement integrated pest management practices. This includes crop rotation to reduce the accumulation of pathogens in the soil, the use of resistant varieties, and the application of preventive treatments with bactericides.
