¿QUIÉN LO CAUSA?
The pathogen Sphaeropsis dalmatica or Bostryosphaeria dothidea is a fungus that affects olive trees, known to cause the disease known as olive gusset. This fungus produces resistance structures called perithecia, which develop in dead or dying plant tissue. The perithecia release ascospores when conditions are favorable, generally in the presence of humidity. These spores can infect healthy parts of the olive trees, such as branches, leaves or fruits, and continue their infection cycle.
