DESCRIPTION
WHO CAUSES IT?
The pathogen Thaumatotibia leucotreta, commonly known as the avocado moth, is an economically important pest that affects avocado crops in various regions of the world. This pest belongs to the order Lepidoptera and is characterized by its ability to infest avocado fruits at different stages of development, from flowers to mature fruits.
SYMPTOMS
The disease that occurs in avocado is known as "avocado moth damage" and is mainly manifested by the presence of galleries and feeding damage in the pulp of the fruit. Symptoms include the presence of moth excrement, Taches and discolorations on the surface of the fruit, as well as fruit decomposition in advanced stages of infestation.
