Fungus

CRITICAL

DESCRIPTION
WHO CAUSES IT?
Root and stem rot, caused by fungi of the genus Fusarium sp. and Rhizoctonia sp., is a common disease that affects ornamental and garden plants. These pathogenic fungi usually live in the soil and can enter plants through wounds in the roots or stem. Once inside the plant, they cause rotting of the affected tissues, which can result in the death of the plant if not controlled in time.
SYMPTOMS
The disease produces symptoms that can vary depending on the affected plant and environmental conditions, but generally include wilting, yellowing of leaves, necrosis at the base of the stem or roots, and poor plant growth. In severe cases, the roots may rot completely, leading to a collapse of the root system and death of the plant.
