DESCRIPTION
WHO CAUSES IT?
The red spider, also known as the red mite, is a small arachnid that belongs to the Tetranychidae family. These tiny insects are usually red or yellow in color and feed on plant sap, causing significant damage to ornamental and garden crops. Spider mites reproduce rapidly in hot, dry conditions, making them an especially problematic pest in temperate climates and in greenhouses.
SYMPTOMS
The disease caused by spider mites on ornamental and garden plants is known as "spider mite" or "leaf curl." Symptoms include the appearance of small pale Taches on the leaves, followed by widespread browning and curling of the leaf edges. Over time, infestation can result in defoliation and weakening of the plant, affecting its health and aesthetic appearance.

To prevent and control red spider mites, it is important to maintain an unfavorable environment for their proliferation. This includes maintaining an adequate level of humidity in the soil and in the air, as well as avoiding excess dryness by applying regular irrigation and installing misting systems. In addition, biological control methods, such as the introduction of predatory mites, and specific chemicals can be used to combat this pest.
