DESCRIPTION
WHO CAUSES IT?
Pythium sp. is a genus of oomycetes that affects a variety of crops, including grass, causing diseases such as root rot. The pathogen can survive in soil and water, waiting for favorable conditions to germinate and form propagation structures, such as zoospores and sporangia. Zoospores are mobile and can swim to the roots of the grass, where they infect and cause damage. Warm, humid conditions are optimal for the propagation and development of Pythium sp..
