DESCRIPTION
WHO CAUSES IT?
Tobacco mosaic virus is an RNA virus belonging to the genus Tobamovirus that can affect a wide range of plants, including cannabis. It is mainly transmitted by direct contact with infected plants, as well as through contaminated growing tools and the hands of agricultural workers. This virus can persist in the seeds of some plants, which can also contribute to its spread in crops.
SYMPTOMS
In cannabis, the tobacco mosaic virus can cause a disease known as cannabis mosaic. Symptoms include light or yellow Taches on the leaves, distortion of plant growth, necrosis on the edges of the leaves, and in severe cases, plant death. Additionally, the virus can weaken the plant's immune system, making it more susceptible to other diseases and pests.
