WHO CAUSES IT?
Dialerurodes citri, commonly known as black citrus aphid, is an insect that affects citrus trees and can cause significant damage to crops. This pathogen feeds on plant sap, which weakens the health of trees and reduces their production. Black citrus aphids also secrete a sticky substance called honeydew, which can promote the growth of sooty mold fungi on the leaves of affected plants.
SYMPTOMS
In citrus, the presence of Dialerurodes citri can cause a number of symptoms, including leaf deformation, branch gall formation, curling of young leaves, premature fruit drop, and reduced fruit growth. the plant. In addition, the honeydew secreted by aphids can attract other pests, such as ants, and promote the development of sooty mold fungi on the leaves.

Recommendations
To prevent and control Dialerurodes citri infestation in citrus crops, it is recommended to implement integrated pest management practices. This includes removing weeds that may serve as alternative hosts, introducing natural enemies such as ladybugs and parasitoid wasps, using sticky traps, and regularly monitoring for the presence of the pest.
