DESCRIPTION
WHO CAUSES IT?
Sclerotinia sp. is a genus of phytopathogenic fungi that can cause diseases in various crops, including grass, causing the disease known as dollar spot. The fungus produces resistance structures called sclerotia, which can survive in soil and plant debris for long periods. These structures germinate under favorable conditions and produce hyphae that can infect the roots and other parts of the plant.
SYMPTOMS
Dollar spot in turfgrass caused by Sclerotinia sp. It manifests itself with the appearance of pale circular Taches on the grass, often with a diameter of about a dollar coin, hence its name. As the disease progresses, the Taches may merge, causing the grass to die in the affected areas.
