DESCRIPTION
WHO CAUSES IT?
The California red louse, scientifically known as Aonidiella aurantii, is a pest that affects citrus crops in many parts of the world. It is a sucking insect that feeds on plant sap, weakening trees and reducing their production capacity. California red louse can cause significant damage if not properly controlled, especially on the most susceptible varieties of citrus.
SYMPTOMS
On citrus, the California red louse can cause a number of harmful symptoms. Among the most common signs are the appearance of small yellow or brown Taches on the surface of the leaves, as well as the presence of a sticky substance called honeydew on the leaves and fruits. Additionally, infested trees may show signs of weakening, such as yellowing leaves, premature fruit drop, and reduced harvest yields.
