DESCRIPTION

WHO CAUSES IT?

Apple mosaic virus (ApMV) is a phytopathogenic virus that affects apple trees, causing the disease known as apple mosaic virus. The virus spreads mainly through infected plant material, such as grafts and buds, as well as by vectors such as sucking insects. The virus can infect a variety of apple trees and can persist in infected plants for long periods, causing variable symptoms depending on growing conditions and apple variety.

SYMPTOMS

Apple mosaic virus produces characteristic symptoms on apple trees, including mosaic patterns on the leaves. Symptoms can vary in severity depending on the variety of apple tree and growing conditions.

• Appearance of mosaic patterns on the leaves.
• Chlorosis and mottling on leaves.
• Reduction in plant growth.
• General weakening of the plant and reduction in the quality and quantity of the harvest.
