WHO CAUSES IT?
Panonychus citri, known as the citrus red mite, is an arachnid insect that affects citrus trees and can cause significant damage to crops. These mites feed on leaf sap, which weakens the plant and can reduce fruit production. Additionally, the presence of red mites can cause defoliation of trees and negatively affect their overall health.
SYMPTOMS
In citrus trees, red mite infestation can cause a number of symptoms, including discoloration of leaves, formation of yellow or white Taches, deformation of new shoots, and premature leaf drop. Additionally, red mites can spin fine webs on the surface of leaves and fruits, contributing to an overall unsightly appearance of the plant.

Recommendations
To prevent and control red mite infestation in citrus crops, it is recommended to implement integrated pest management practices. This includes proper pruning of trees to improve air circulation, removal of weeds and crop debris, use of specific insecticides and acaricides, and introduction of natural enemies such as predatory mites and parasitoid wasps.
