Josephiella Microcarpae
Pathogen:

Insectos
WHO CAUSES IT?
The gall wasp, also known as Cynipidae, is a tiny insect belonging to the Hymenoptera family, which plays a crucial role as a pathogen in various trees, including ficus. This wasp is capable of inducing the formation of galls on the leaves, branches and even the trunk of the ficus, by laying eggs and releasing chemicals that provoke a response from the plant. The resulting galls can vary in size and shape, but their presence negatively affects the health and aesthetics of the ficus.
SYMPTOMS
The disease caused by the gall wasp on the ficus manifests itself through the formation of galls on different parts of the plant. These galls can appear as abnormal protuberances on the leaves, branches or trunk, altering the structure and function of the affected tissues. Additionally, the presence of galls can weaken the plant and make it more susceptible to other pathogens and environmental stressors.
